Welcome to Part 2 of the series on how to shift your mindset from “I’m Not Good Enough” To “I Am Worthy”.

In part 1 we talked about why we feel unworthy, and how marketers and social media use our survival instinct of comparison and competition against us.

If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, I strongly encourage you to check it out here.

The biggest takeaway?

You are inherently worthy and enough exactly as you are right now.

You are worthy simply because you exist.

All of your accolades and achievements are just added bonuses. They don’t make you any MORE worthy than you already are.

You don’t have to earn your worthiness, win your worthiness, beg for your worthiness, or question your worthiness.

You are worthy just because you are. Full stop.

In this article we’re going to discuss the next step is shifting your mindset from “I’m Not Good Enough” to “I AM WORTHY”!

Acknowledge Your Feelings

Start by being real with yourself.

It’s normal to want to shove your negative feelings down and pretend they don’t exist because they’re uncomfortable and, well, don’t feel good.

On top of that, we’re trained to only focus on the positive and not be a “Negative Nancy” in conversations because “nobody wants to listen to you complain”.

And while there’s some merit in that, the one person that you should always be completely honest with is yourself.

Pretending your feelings don’t exist isn’t going to make them go away forever.

If anything, it’ll just cause the pressure to build up until it explodes like a volcano! This could be in the form of an emotional outburst over something random or “small”, or it could show up as a physical illness or chronic pain.

The best way to clear your feelings is to feel them fully. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard-trained neuroscientist who specialized in the anatomy of the brain, wrote this in her book My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey:

When a person has a reaction to something in their environment, there’s a 90 second chemical process that happens in the body; after that, any remaining emotional response is just the person choosing to stay in that emotional loop. Something happens in the external world and chemicals are flushed through your body which puts it on full alert.

For those chemicals to totally flush out of the body it takes less than 90 seconds. This means that for 90 seconds you can watch the process happening, you can feel it happening, and then you can watch it go away. After that, if you continue to feel fear, anger, and so on, you need to look at the thoughts that you’re thinking that are re-stimulating the circuitry that is resulting in you having this physiological response over and over again.

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, author of My Stroke Of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey

So acknowledge your feelings, feel them fully, and then allow them to pass. Recognizing your emotions is the first step towards changing them.

And just know that you may have to go through this process more than once. Thoughts cause feelings, and your brain loves habit and repetition. It takes time to break the habit of thinking negative thoughts.

So when those old thoughts start looping through your mind, old feelings might come up.

Just acknowledge them and keep being intentional about replacing those negative thoughts with positive ones.

It will get easier with time.

And as you build the habit of acknowledging your feelings yourself, you’re subconsciously training your brain to believe that your feelings are worth honoring and acknowledging, in general.

When you adopt this new belief you’ll naturally distance yourself from people who gaslight you and downplay your feelings, and start attracting and prioritizing people who treat you with respect, love, compassion, and support.

And this can radically change your life for the better.

Imagine: How would your life look if you got rid of everyone that makes you feel like crap about yourself and only surrounded yourself with people that make you feel good?

How would your days look? How would you feel? What would your confidence be like? How would having that level of confidence affect your money, career, and dating life?

Yea, it’s a gamechanger for sure.

So in case you need to hear it:

I celebrate you.

I honor you.

Your feelings matter.

Your thoughts matter.

Your pain matters.

Your joy matters.

And everything that matters to you is worth acknowledging.

I wish you nothing but the best, my friend.
